Mister X

Link of the Week

Hmm, maybe, just maybe, this is a bad idea. Green isn't my colour - I prefer black and white. Anyway, welcome to the Penopticon, the blog-zone of Mister.X himself. Last seen somewhere around 1996, I've been lurking in the vortex ever since, trying desperately to avoid crap cult television. Finally, the dust has settled, and the bad shows are (mostly) history.

Oh, hell. Anonymity sucks. Especially on the internet, because that isn't real anonymity, its just the pretence. IP addresses, keylogging, cookies, none of these things were a feature of my past existence. I retired just when the world wide web was just getting started. I ran the ain't it cool news of the paper generation. Yee-, er-, haw.

Anyway, as the subheader says, I'm back. So I guess I need a purpose if I'm going to run this here blog.

My old job was to capture anonymous views from readers, and to re-present those views in an irreverent, iconoclastic, devil-may-care way. Well, I say views, but in truth it was rumours. The original Rumours fanzine sought to reveal what rumours were circulating through Doctor Who fandom and to summarise them, kind of like a news service. But with a Mystery-Science-Theater kind of commentary. And without sources.

Times have changed, and because the internet isn't anonymous, I can't quite do what I used to. Instead I will repeat news items, quoting the original source, and then add commentaries of my own. We'll see where that takes us, shall we?

I won't start straight away. I'll give it a month, go sort out an email address, and take it from there.

Anyway, here's a link to some copyrighted material which ripped off the story of my life. My first fanzine appearance was in 1991, so I claim IP precedence and will sue Homer Simpson if I ever find out where Springfield is...
