Another complex chronology is that of the Gallifrey, a world whose 12 million year history is entirely based upon time travel and its consequences. Before Rassilon and other Time Lords discovered time travel and set out to redefine history, there was the Old Time, an epoch of legend where linear time did not even exist. By creating the Web of Time, Gallifrey became the centre of the universe, and its early days were a dark time of confusion where histories were written and rewritten over and over again until order was established.
There have been classical eras, golden ages, silver ages, rennaissances and the modern era in which the Doctor lived, which immediately preceded the Last Great Time War, which redefined the way the universe works, and saw the Time Lords disappear from existence.
