Androzani Minor is a planet that first appeared in The Caves of Androzani.

Location

Androzani Minor is a twin planet, sharing its orbit around the white dwarf Sirius B with Androzani Major. Located in the Sirius System (as opposed to Sirius A) in the constellation Canis Major, it is 8.6 light years from Earth.

Inhabitants

The Sirians are mix of humanoids, mostly from Canis Major, but with later colonists from Earth.

History

Androzani Major, Androzani Minor, Sirius 3, 4 and 5 were first colonised by Canisians in the 20th century. With the rise of the Earth Empire power shifted from Canis Major to Earth, and the resource-hungry corporations took control. This ultimately destabilised the relationship between the twin planets, leading to Sharaz Jek's rebellion against the Praesidium in the 29th century.

Environment

Androzani Minor is a barren world of sand dunes, devoid of vegetation and with little water. The orbital alignment between Androzani Major and Minor causes mudbursts, in which pools of superheated mud on the planet erupt like geysers.

Once covered by water that has long since drained away, the planet is riddled with a network of underground tunnels used to mine the rare substance, spectrox, made from the droppings of native bats. These tunnels were used to hide the headquarters for Sharaz Jek's rebellion against the Praesidium on Androzani Major.
