Location

Alpha Canis 1 is a planet in orbit around the white A star Alpha Canis Majoris (also known as Sirius A), also known as the Dog Star. Located in the constellation Canis Major, it is 8.6 light years from Earth.

Inhabitants

Canisians are a humanoid race indistinguishable from human beings (their proximity to Earth may imply common origins). Their development was secretly influenced by the Time Lord General Tannis, who turned them into a race of warmongering plunderers whose existence threatened to supplant the future dominance of Earth.

History

By 2003 the expanding Canisian Empire includes Alpha Canis Minor, Centauri system, Altair, Luria (a prison planet), Saiph and Santiny (home of the Santine Republic), and had seen the destruction of other worlds including Olderan.

The desruction of Olderan using biological weapons brought the Canisians to the attention of the extragalactic community (including the Time Lords), and resulted in their becoming a signatory of the Treaty or Karselai. At this time their technology included superatmospheric fighters, superluminal communication and tectonic bombs.

Their invasion of Earth in 2003 was thwarted by a UN shuttle fleet, whose victory saw the end of the Empire and its reversion to peaceful non-expansionist policies.

It is likely that the worlds of the Sirius System (Sirius B), which include Androzani Major, Androzani Minor, Sirius 3, 4 and 5, were first populated by Canisians.

Environment

Alpha Canis 1 is a cold, icy planet whose most temperate continent is Thuria, where the government is located (General Tannis had a home on the southern coast, and Prime Minister Bedloe lived there).
